i took the kiddos today for gracie's 2 year old portrait at jc penney. they did an awesome job that surpassed my expectations for the place. right now, there's a coupon for no sitting fees, a free 10x13, & $3.99 sheets; making for a great deal!

6 days till surgery
papaw has surgery next saturday. he smiled for a picture for me today.
he would beat me if he knew i was blogging about this (not literally).
we are all a bit scared & ready for the recovery to start. today he told me he was ready to be up in heaven dancing with my grandma. i told him soon he'd start feeling better & we'd all be dancing.

isn't she lovely??
i think my cousin's wife is the most beautiful pregnant lady i have ever seen. & this is her 4th child - the first girl in their family! we can't wait to meet her. i'm sure she will be a knockout just like her momma. 5 1/2 weeks to go!
we attended her baby shower on saturday. there was lots and lots of pink. she even got some pink cowboy boots!
there were so many lovely ladies at the shower... my momma, i don't know what i would do without you!
my great aunt dee, the most awesome woman in the world (besides my mom & mother in law).
the lovely lady & baby in the belly we were celebrating, my other lovely cousin, sara & her daughter, isabella & miss gracie.
my other lovely cousin that wasn't able to make it to the shower, but i did get to see today at papaw's. i love you cuz! yes, those are dead flowers in my hair from grace.
here is my lovely little girl trying to sneak some more cake at the shower. busted!

need a little blues clues help from my friends
miss cececc bella is slightly obsessed with blues clues. shes loves the durn dog. for ben, we had an inflatable thinking chair that lasted about 20 minuted before it popped. does anyone have a foam chair
or know where i can get one other than ebay? i am pretty desperate! she will be 2 in july & i know this would be the ultimate gift for her, never mind her swing set that will hopefully be put together for her by then!)

walk this way
i took 2 pictures today of the kids at the hospital today. they did make our day look like it was pretty good.
i love it when they hold hands and follow directions. they were good for about as long as it took to have the pictures taken.
the rest of the day was just hell. we were supposed to be in & out, but were at the hospital for hours. paps's stuff took waaay longer than expected. pap is having is surgery to remove his lump next saturday so that is good news. part of his ear & salivary glands will be removed. so he will look a bit different. but we will love him, ear or no ear.
i am so thankful today is over. it was a stressfull one. the poor kids were good, were just put though a lot of waiting and waiting and waiting. i'm sorry guys.

my hippie daughter
i think she's meant to be a hippie. she wears her beads in her hair..
i must say she has a style all her own all ready & i love every silly bit of it.
summertime
i found a new favorite blog... tatertots & jello. she has lots of fun stories, things that motivate moms like me & just seems like a super cool momma.
she inspired me to try & make our own version of her summer signs. here are hers, beautiful aren't they???
for our version, we used some scrapbooking paper & just colored in the letters. i then glued the letters & let the kiddos go to town with glitter. i think they didn't turn out half bad for a non crafter & 2 kiddos. we have the letters up with all our summertime stuff. things from daddio's trip to key west, from our engagement trip to the dominican, some of ben's crafts from vbs & random other items.

some up close shots...

if you have time, check out her blog. she has really inspired me. even to get jillian michaels 30 day shred.
(i haven't gotten it out of the package yet though...)

sunday, sunday
we made our sunday trip out to papaw's today. he was in good spirits, so that was just wonderful!
the cherry tree was full of delicious fruit, so we all went to town picking.

ben did the majority of it & was very proud.
after we were done, he was already asking for a pie.
i love this
picture of daddio tilling the garden with papaw walking in the background. i know it really bugs my pap to have to have help with things, but he's doing ok with it.
we were going to take our dog, zakky home with us today, but when it was time to go he hid. i think he has officially moved into my mom's home.
papaw was feeling better today than in weeks, thank god! he was able to eat spaghetti & strawberry shortcake for lunch. all of his children stopped by for at least a minute today too, which was nice. he goes wednesday to the surgeon to discuss removing the tumor. pray for the best. here he is getting that nasty spot cleaned up.
when we got home, after nap, it was cherry pitting time. ben did a great job helping. gracie, not so much. she liked throwing the pits in the "good" bowl & laughing about it. little stinker. ben used a tool from namaw to help pop out the cherry pits & i must say it worked pretty good. he really liked it.
for cherry pie time, i let them mix everything up themselves. they did a great job working together.
but check out that look ben is giving his little sis there!
the pie they made was delicious, ben had 2nds after a huge supper!
hope everyone had a great weekend!!

r.i.p. our beloved remote control
our remote control to the bedroom tv finally bit the dust. the pieces of it have been held together with duct tape for years.

the tv was daddio's in college, so i'm sure it had some abuse from those guys. we haven't been easy on it either. the remote had been through our wash & dry cycle more times than i can count (i'd forget to check on it every time i wash the sheets!)
well, yeseterday when i pulled it out of the dryer (oops), even after a battery change it wouldn't work. i was quite bummed thinking i would have to get my lazy rear out of bed at night to turn on the tv to watch chelsea lately after the kids were asleep.
today gracie & i went shopping at tuesday morning. they are having a 50% marked clearance items this weekend. if you have one near you, check them out! low & behold, there was a universal remote on clearance. the new one is so shiny & new, i hope it can withstand the treatment of our household.
